Nima Safaei was born in 1975 in Gorgan, Iran. He has a background in Applied Mathematics and has a PhD in Systems and Industrial Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology, specializing in Manufacturing Systems Design. He was a visiting scholar at Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of British Columbia in 2007 and held a three-year postdoctoral position at Center for Maintenance Optimization and Reliability Engineering (C-MORE) at the University of Toronto. He is currently working at Department of Maintenance and Reliability Engineering, Bombardier Aerospace, Toronto, Canada, on a collaboration research project between the University of Toronto and Bombardier Inc.
