About Us

Our interests lie in understanding the genes and pathways that regulate human behaviour and cognition. We study the human chromosome 7 locus, 7q11.23, which is susceptible to genomic rearrangement through non-allelic homologous recombination. Deletion and duplication of 7q11.23 both cause neurodevelopmental disorders with unique cognitive and behavioural profiles, which offer a window into the genetics of human behavior.

We take students from the graduate departments of Molecular Genetics and the Insitute of Medical Science. We are also members of the Collaborative Program in Neuroscience and have close ties with the Hospital for Sick Children.
