At borders, in social assistance
offices, at work, with police, and in many other places, psychiatrized
people are targeted, discriminated against and marginalized. This
panel was a discussion created by a radical cross-disability activist
organization engaged in political action around disability and anti-psychiatry.
The panel presented a discussion about anti-psychiatry organizing
in the day-to-day work of grassroots community organizations in
Toronto. Members of organizations within the anti-poverty, status
for all and anti-racist movements in the city spoke about their
work and how psychiatric survivors and an anti-psychiatry analysis
are incorporated in their organizing. The panel helped develop a
shared radical disability analysis to help foster better communication
between grassroots organizations in Toronto and beyond. It will
engaged anti-psychiatry activists who are involved solely or primarily
in anti-psychiatry organizing about how these issues are integral
to anti-psychiatry organizing as a whole and the necessity of supporting
these movements. |
