Welcome!

My name is Rohaan Ahmed and I am an Electrical and Computer Engineering student at the University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I have completed three of four years towards a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree at the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering. I am currently working as an Aerospace and Defence Systems Engineer at Aviya Technologies, Canada.

As part of the experienced and dedicated team of engineers at Aviya Technologies, I have worked on projects for many world renowned Aerospace and Defence contractors, including Boeing, L-3 Communications, Sukhoi, Safran Electronics Canada (formerly Hispano Suiza), Hamilton Sundstrand and so on. Projects in which I have made contributions include defence projects - such L-3 Wescam's MX-15Di Multi-Sensor Turret (JETDS designation AN/AAQ-35); and commercial projects - including Boeing 787 Fan Motor Control (part of the Environmental Control System) and Sukhoi SuperJet-100 (SJ100) Landing Gear Control Unit. For these and other projects, I have engaged in design, development, verification & validation and documentation activities. More specifically, I have developed and tested the firmware for the MX-15Di Multi-Sensor Turret's Embedded Controller in VHDL, implemented on a Xilinx FPGA, and integrated it with the rest of the system. I have also conducted Unit / Low Level Requirements based testing (aka Glass-box or Modular testing), Software Integration / High Level Requirements testing (aka Black-box testing) and Regression testing on C-language code using IBM's Rational Test Realtime software testing platform as part of Verification & Validation activities for the SJ100 and Boeing 787 projects. In addition, I have also helped with many in-house initiatives for Aviya Technologies. All activities were performed by meeting and exceeding internationally recognized standards such as DO-178B, DO-254, MIL-STD-498 and other company-specific standards.

As an aspiring Engineering student at a world renowned academic institute, I believe I can add great value and enthusiasm to any company that is dedicated to quality and excellence in its field. As part of a knowledgeable and innovative team of engineers, I wish to contribute significantly to the research, design and development of advance and innovative ideas to expand our scientific horizons and benefit the human race.

I bring with me a wealth of desirable skills from previous experiences. From the many engineering projects that I have been involved with in past academic and work terms, I have gained a wide variety of technical experience. I have managed, analysed and resolved nuclear power-plant design feedback issues, engineered autonomous and robotic systems, created object oriented software applications, built microprocessors, programmed microcontrollers, Field Programmable Gate Arrays and video adapters, fabricated formula-style automobiles, designed wireless communication systems, created 3D architectural models of building structures, developed and administered corporate and personal websites, and installed, tested and debugged automotive, robotic and computer control systems. I have also authored and co-authored various corporate-level and project-level technical descriptions and analysis reports.

From these experiences I have learnt to place great importance on team-work and leadership, both in engineering projects and in my personal life. I strongly believe in the fact that teamwork divides tasks and multiplies success and that a good leader makes achieving that success easier. Due to this I have always been keen to take up leadership roles in team settings and strive for success as a team. Leadership is heavily dependant on communication, which, I believe, is one of my fortes. I enjoy delivering unique presentations and feel comfortable conversing with other individuals on various subjects.

I wish to combine the strong mix of technical, interpersonal and communication skills I have acquired through my many experiences and excel at an exciting opportunity to contribute significantly to the world of science and technology.
