The research area is based on developing models and tools of vacuum infusion process to predict the flow behaviour of a natural fibre field thermoset and to optimize the process window to obtain high quality products within stipulated time.

In recent years, research on the replacement of man-made fibers with natural fibers as reinforcement in plastic composites has increased dramatically. This is because natural fiber has the advantage of lower density, lower price, competitive specific mechanical properties, reduced energy consumption, carbon dioxide reduction, and biodegradability over man-made fiber. Natural fiber composites are emerging as a realistic alternative to glass-reinforced composites. While they can deliver the same performance for lower weight, they can also be 25-30 percent stronger for the same weight. Moreover, they exhibit a favourable non-brittle fracture on impact, which is another important requirement in the passenger car parts
