Capital of Ljubljana

Here is a picture of
Ljubljana from the top of the
watch tower on the castle.
The river you see to
the left is river Ljubljanica.
The rooftops below are part
of 'Old Ljubljana'.

This is a picture of the one thousand year old castle which is one of the major centerpieces of Ljubljana. For the past few years it has been under reconstruction. From the watch tower of the castle you can see 'Old Ljubljana' below (picture above), and you can also see mountains to the north and north-west, including Triglav.

Here are pictures of St. Nicholas' Cathedral. St. Nicholas' Cathedral is another highlight of the capital of Ljubljana. The photo on the left is the cathedral from the outside, and the one on the right is a photo of the dome above the alter. This church has been standing here since the 13th century. It went through many alterations after the fire in 1361. This church, along with all the others in Ljubljana, has two towers. The inside is depicting four of St. Nicholas' miracles.

This is a picture of the Robba Fountain of Carniolan Rivers. This is said to be the most beautiful monument in Ljubljana. It symbolises the three rivers:
Sava, Krka, Ljubljanica
It was built in 1751 and is made out of marble. The fountain is 10 meters high, and is located beside the town hall and the junction of three streets.
