Recently Norman was featured in London, Ontario’s newspaper, the Londoner as a representative of start-gallery.com, an online art gallery featuring and promoting 15 artists’ works. Additionally Norman is a featured artist on start-gallery.com, where anyone can go to view and buy her work. Trish Norman is just one of many artists who utilize the internet to promote, establish, and further themselves as an artist.
Interview
Q) Do you think the internet exposes you to more types of art from different cultures?
TN:Yea of course. I think it’s a great resource for being exposed for the first time to other artworks and cultures.
Q) how about publicity? Do you publish your art online?
TN: I do! It’s a great way to get your name out there as a new artist. I was just in the newspaper because I have my art work on a gallery site that was being featured in the Londoner (newspaper) and I was chosen as the artist to represent the gallery
Q) Do you think the art world gains anything positive from using the internet as a resource?
TN: Yes and no. It’s a great way to gain exposure, but depending on the images that artists take from the internet, there are a lot of set backs. Taking images straight from the internet can create problems like not being able to publish your artwork because you don't own the image; you just took it off google.com.
Q) true. What about accessing pieces from artists you are already familiar with? or keeping a repetoire or folder of images of art?
TN:Yes that’s a great use for the internet. In essence it makes life easier, but at the same time makes artists lazy.
