In the past decade, Romania has become the most popular destination for foreign students to study medicine in Europe. Since 1990 thousands of applicants from 52 countries including USA, Canada, UK, UAE, India, Pakistan, Mauritius, and South Africa have obtained admission in University of Oradea faculty of medicine.
The University fee structure is the most cost effective to study medicine. University of Oradea has affiliation with 6 specialized hospitals within the city where students do all their clinical rotations, therefore ensuring good case studies and hands on experience. The city offers transportation in taxis, buses, streetcars or trains that connect to the whole of Europe. All hospitals and clinical training sites are easily reached by public transportation.
The local community is friendly and welcomes foreigners with great hospitality. Since the crime rate is practically zero in city of Oradea, it allows students to feel safe whether day or night. The nightlife is more pubs orientated; however there are nightclubs where a variety of music can be enjoyed such as Indian, Bhangra, Arabic, Italian and English. During summer vacations a lot of students embark for a tour of Europe. It is easy for students to find summer employment in big European cities such as London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris and Milan. There are excellent hiking trails leading into the mountains that are inhabited by wolves and bears as well as other beautiful wild life creatures. In winter students take advantage of the nearby geothermal heated natural pools with water temperature from 30 to 40 degrees
