How to Use This Subject Guide

Welcome to CHST603, History of the Third Reich. The purpose of the subject guide is to assist students with the research and writing required for the successful completion of the course.

In addition to the sources provided by the professor in the syllabus, the guide contains instruction on using the University of Toronto Libraries catalogue, finding books and journal articles, helpful print and electronic titles related to academic writing, and much more:

  • Getting Started: this section of the web site provides a list of general reference sources (encyclopedia, dictionaries, and handbooks) and information on using the UTL catalogue to expand your research.
  • Using Databases: information on JSTOR, Project Muse, and Historical Abstracts, three major academic article databases pertaining to the discipline of history, as well as additional databases.
  • Writing Your Essay: resources on writing and citing your essay.
  • Contact & Credits: electronic reference assistance and information on the photographs I used to create this guide.

This subject guide was compiled by Agatha Barc, for INF1310H: Introduction to Reference, taught by Michael McCaffrey, spring 2013.
