The Campbell Lab was founded in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Oxford in 1996, and relocated to the University of Toronto in the autumn of 2004.

The Campbell Lab is located in the Noranda Earth Sciences Centre (ESC). Generous start-up funds from the University of Toronto ensured that the lab was equipped as a state-of-the-art facility for conducting plant science research.
