Here are the girls on day 33.
Madeline is still using the CPAP. So far all efforts to wean her off it have proven unsuccessful. She alternates between 25% and 40% oxygen depending on the time of day, whether she's feeding at the time and if she's being cuddled or not.
She had her vision checked today and while her left eye was okay her right eye showed some problems although at this point no action will be taken because the condition is not unusual in premature babies and may improve without intervention.
Her poor little belly is still bloated from the pressure of the CPAP blowing air into her digestive tract and her not having sufficient muscle tone to enable her to get rid of it herself.
The amount of bloating varies day to day but on days when she is very bloated she has more desats than when her belly is smaller.
Her she is out of her crib to be weighed and during this time she doesn't wear the full CPAP system. There is a lot less chance of her having air forced through her entire system under these circumstances but it's not something that can be maintained for long.
Madeline back in her crib and you can see how much her nose is pushed pack by the CPAP system.
Emma in her crib dressed in pink.
Live long and prosper!
Bathed in the glow.
She loves to grab hold of that feeding tube.
Back in her cot and off to sleep.
