2007 – 2011:   Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Toronto.

·         Research areas: image processing, computer vision, numerical optimization, eye-tracking.

·         Won Best Paper Award at international IEEE conference (competed with over 200 submissions).

·         Published three articles in high impact engineering and clinical journals.

·         Won merit-based scholarships & awards from: Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC); Vision Science Research Program Award; Edward S. Rogers Sr. Graduate Scholarship

2002 – 2005:   M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.

·         Research areas: signal processing, numerical optimization, pattern recognition.

·         Developed algorithm for wide-band source localization and reconstruction in sensor arrays.

·         Developed algorithm for classification of Electroencephalography (EEG) signals for Brain-Computer Interface.

·         Published two articles in high impact journals.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

 

05.2005 – 08.2007:  Engineer, Innovations (R&D) group, Biosense Webster, a Johnson & Johnson Co.

·         Conducted feasibility studies and prototyping of novel medical devices (simulations in Matlab, programming in C++, circuit design, embedded programming, hands-on work in the lab).

·         Completed projects:

-          split-handle intra-cardiac navigation catheter.

-          wirelessly powered and communicated implantable cardiac pace-maker.

-          intra-cardiac lesion assessment catheter and system.

·         Co-authored two patents.

 

06.2000 – 05.2002:  Jr. Engineer/Trainee, Design Validation, Mobilian Inc.

·         Designed and executed RTL (pre-silicon/logic) validation tests for the physical layer of the BlueTooth-Wifi combo modem.

·         Worked with Specman (‘E’ verification language), Cadence tools.

LEADERSHIP AND TEAMWORK EXPERIENCE

 

2010:   Co-chair, “Connections 2010”, ECE Department, University of Toronto.

·           Organized a Graduate Symposium attended by over 200 students, faculty and industry representatives.

·           Obtained sponsors (over $8000 raised) and speakers; prepared venue and program.

 

2008 – 2010 (summers): Team-leader, Eye Movements lab, University of Toronto.

·                        Supervised summer students (8 in total over 3 summers).

·           Planned and assigned tasks, provided guidance, ensured timely completion of individual sub-projects and their smooth integration into functional prototype system by the end of term.

 

OTHER EXPERIENCE

 

2002 – 2005, 2008- 2011: Teaching Assistant (courses: Logic Design, Calculus, Engineering Economics)

·            Conducted tutorials for a class of ~40 students.

·            Marked assignments, quizzes & tests.

 

2004 – 2007:   Lieutenant, Underwater Acoustic Equipment Maintenance Lab, Israeli Navy

·           Worked with a small team of technicians on scheduled & emergency maintenance tasks.

·           Led the initiative for computerization of maintenance records and equipment status in the lab.

·            Collaborated with engineers from the Navy head quarters on R&D projects.

 

1999 – 2000:   Volunteer, Youth Education Initiative.

·            Acted as a role model and a mentor for a 10-years-old boy from a troubled neighborhood.
