Broncho-alveolar Cell Cancer
A subtype of adenocarcinoma of the lung. Pathologically, it cannot easily be differentiated from other adenocarcinomas.
CXR Findings: Presents in one of three common patterns
- large lobular lung mass often with air bronchograms
- multiple moderate sized pulmonary nodules
- diffuse small nodular pattern
It may be associated with pleural effusions and metastatic hilar or mediastinal adenopathy.
Treatment: Difficult especially if diffuse form. Chemotherapy is the mainstay.
