Summary
Diagnosis: Large Bowel Obstruction
Clinical hints:
Typical history and plain film findings. Single-contrast
barium enema or endoscopy needed to localize and biopsy.
Surgery usual treatment. This patient had a sigmoid colon
carcinoma.
Radiological Pearls:
- dilated loops of colon, and
- may be dilated small bowel loops
- air-fluid levels seen
- etiology seldom evident on KUB
