Case Summary

Diagnosis:  Fibrous Dysplasia


Clinical hints:

This developmental bone dysplasia may be mono-ostotic or polyostotic. In females, polyostotic disease, with cafe au lait spots and sexual precocity is called Albright's syndrome. Deformities and pathologic fractures are common.


Radiological Pearls:
  • cystic expansion of bones
     
  • "ground glass" appearance
     
  • skull deformities ("leontiasis")
     
  • rarely cranial nerve involvement
