Case Summary

Diagnosis:  Legionnaire's Disease


Clinical hints:

Acute onset of fever, cough, and purulent sputum. May lead to major metabolic and systemic problems if not correctly treated.


Radiological Pearls:
  • widespread infiltrates
     
  • usually involves both lungs
     
  • often with effusions
     
  • may have cavitary changes and show a "wild x-ray" pattern
