My research focuses on speech: how do humans perceive it, how we can make better technology to work with it, and many related questions.

I am the director of the Perceptimat Research Group at the University of Toronto. I am one of the organizers of the Zero Resource Speech Challenge, a machine learning challenge that aims to advance unsupervised learning for speech.

My name is pronounced [ˈju ɨn ˈdʌn ˌbɑɹ] and I go by ‘he/him’.
