Professor Jinpei Wu

Professor Jinpei Wu was born in March 1937 in Ji'an County, Jiangxi Province, China. In 1960, he was graduated from the Department of Wireless Communication, Beijing Institute of Aeronautics (now known as Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics).

From 1964 to 1967, Professor Wu worked in Beijing Institute of Aeronautics. From 1967 to 1980, he worked in the Commission of Science Technology and Industry for National Defence of China.

In 1980, Professor Wu changed his career to work for Changsha Railway Institute (now known as Central South University). He became an associate professor in Sep. 1981, and professor in Dec. 1985. In 1989, he became a Ph.D. Advisor. He was the department head of the Department of Electronic Engineering (1983-1985) and vice president (1985- 1991) of Changsha Railway Institute.

Since 1991, Professor Wu has been working for Wuyi University. He was vice president (1991-1998) of the university, and professor and lead scientist of Information Science Division. At the same time, he is a Ph.D. Advisor and Visiting Professor of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Central South University.

Professor Wu's research interests include: Intelligent Information Processing, Time Series Signal Processing, System Identification, Fault Diagnosis, Fuzzy Logic Theory and Application. He wrote several influential books in these areas, such as "Time Series Signal Analysis", "System Identification", "Fuzzy Fault Diagnosis", "Intelligent Fault Diagnosis and Expert System", and "Modern Data Analysis".

From 1993 to 1996, I was supervised by Professor Wu in my M. Eng. in Industrial Automation program. As one of his graduate students and alumni, I wish Professor Wu healthy, happy and longevous.
