M. Eng. in Industrial Automation From September 1993 to March 1996, I was pursuing my M. Eng. Degree in Industrial Automation in the Department of Automation Engineering, Beijing Institute of Light Industry (now known as Beijing Technology and Business University). Founded in 1958, Beijing Institute of Light Industry was dedicated to the high education and advanced training of engineers and technicians in the Light Industry of China. In June 1999 (three years after my graduation), it was merged with Beijing Institute of Business to form Beijing Technology and Business University, which has been listed as one of the universities for priority construction under Beijing municipal government of China.
Industrial Automation is the use of control systems such as computers to
control industrial machinery and processes, replacing human operators. In the
scope of industrialization, it is a step beyond mechanization. Whereas
mechanization provided human operators with machinery to assist them with the
physical requirements of work, automation greatly reduces the need for human
sensory and mental requirements as well. - Simulation My graduate research combined ANN (Artificial Neural Network) with Fuzzy Logic (Fuzzy Set Theory) and Expert System. It was one of the joint projects between Beijing Institute of Light Industry and Wuyi University. The joint project was supported by Guangdong Advanced Education Fund, and I did the research in both two universities at different time period. That was why I luckily got two professors as my Research Supervisors: Professor Jinpei Wu and Professor Yuanchao Lei. Under the guide of the Professor Wu and Professor Lei, I completed my research project, and successfully defended my dissertation: The Research on Intelligent Fault Diagnostic Expert System Based on Fuzzy Neural Network Technology.
