Square Enix had intended to suprise gamers in Japan by having a page in the upcoming V-Jump dedicated to their new Dragon Quest V remake. The project was a secret, until a cellphone image of the game became available on the internet. After realizing this, Square Enix made an official announcement for the title.
Here is the cellphone image:
Dragon Quest V: Tenkuu no hanayome was originally made for the Super Famicom on September 27, 1992. The title was very well recieved in Japan and sold over 2.8 million copies. The story dealt with the love of families and children and had a unique battle system in which you had a monster as your companion.

The new title will be developed by ArtePiazza and host a face-lift in terms of graphics to meet the standards of the PlayStation 2. However, 1UP reports that the graphics will not meet the standards of those of Level 5's Dragon Quest VIII. Apparently, the remake will use an improved 3D engine of Torneko No Daiboken 3 (2001). The team working behind the title include: Yuji Horii as Scenario Writer and Game Designer, Akira Toriyama (DBZ Art director) as Character Designer, Koichi Sugiyama as Music Director, and Shintaro Majima as the Main Director. The developers Arte Piazaa have worked on previous Dragon Quest titles including DQ3, 4, and 7.
