Final Fantasy XI won the Grand Prize award because it spread more interest towards the use of broadband and the playing of online games. FFXI and another title by Namco called Taiko No Tatsujin: Tatakon de Dodon ga Don won the Grand Prize Awards. The Award of Excellence merits games of the highest quality. Final Fantasy X-2 and 8 other games won this award. The other games included Halo, Zelda the Wind Waker, and many others. Kingdom Hearts recieved the Global Prize Award for a software made in Japan.

Unfortunately, Square Enix did not win in the Future Game Awards category. Maybe next year they will recieve an award for Final Fantasy XII and Kingdom Hearts 2.
