CONFERENCE HELD FOR NEW KH TITLES
Posted on 09.26.2003 by Sifar
Square Enix revealed some new information in regards to the Kingdom Hearts titles it plans to release sometime next year. The revealing took place in a press conference where several foreign journalists were present. The reason was because of the huge success that Kingdom Hearts recieved in Europe and North America. In Japan, Kingdom Hearts sold 1.3 million copies, and in Europe + North America, over 2 million copies were sold.

The first bit of new information dealt with Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. The GameBoy Advance title will be developed by Jupiter under the supervision of Square Enix. Jupiter is known for its Pokemon and Disney games which have made apperances on several GameBoy systems. KH:COM will be the firm's most ambitious title because it will feature actual FMVs the likes of which have never been seen on the GameBoy Advance. Also, KH:COM's storyline will take place right after that of the original Kingdom Hearts. It will connect the storylines of KH1 and KH2. The story will help explain the Deep Dive video that was made available in Japan's Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix. Kingdom Hearts 2 will take place a year after the end of Kingdom Hearts 1.

Present at the conference were Tetsuya Nomura, Yoshinari Kitase, Youichi Wada, and many others. The representatives sat together on a large table facing the audience. On both of their sides were two life-sized statues of Sora (hero of Kingdom Hearts). One of the statues was of Sora from the original Kingdom Hearts, the other was of Sora from Kingdom Hearts 2. The main differences were that Sora from KH2 was taller, had a brand new outfit, and held two keyblades. The two keyblades help somewhat confirm that KH2's gameplay will involve the use of two blades at the same time.

Finally, it was mentioned that Tetsuya Nomura will be taking lead of the Kingdom Hearts 2 project.
