SQUARE ENIX RELEASES MORE KH2 NEWS
Posted on 10.01.2003 by Sifar
Square Enix has reported that Kingdom Hearts 2 will feature several new (original) characters that were not featured in the first game. The game will also resolve all the mysterious and questions from the first title. The Final Fantasy characters from the original game will also be making a return, however, more characters from previous Square Enix games will be added. This could also include characters from Dragon Quest titles.

Square Enix is interested in getting all the previous voice actors to come play their roles again, however, some may be unable to come. It was also mentioned that the game's main themes will be "promise" and "connection of hearts". Utadu Hikaru is yet to be mentioned anywhere, and we hope she'll return to sing the main theme songs.

Sora has been given a change of clothes which are more darker. There is a story-related connection for Sora's change in wardrobe and apparently clothes play a big role in the battle system. But it has been said to be very different from that of Final Fantasy X-2. The battle system will have several enhancements, but will primarily be the same system from the original game. For example, there will be more commands available for Sora to do more intense attacks. Square Enix also discussed how it plans to fix the camera issue and improve the Gumi Ship area.

On a side note, it seems that Buena Vista Games asked Square Enix to make 20 Kingdom Hearts installments. This could mean a long standing Kingdom Hearts series, and we hope it does work out. Youichi Wada was very much interested in making Kingdom Hearts a series like the Final Fantasy series. His wish must've come true.

The current rumoured release date for Kingdom Hearts 2 is December 2004.
