Assistant Professor, Memorial University of Newfoundland
I'm a researcher in the Department of Linguistics at Memorial University of Newfoundland. I research the Indigenous languages of Canada, particularly with respect to their syntactic structure and to language documentaion and revitalization. I focus particularly on the Dene, Algonquian and Inuit families of languages. Particular syntactic interests of mine include copulas, temporal grammar and the fine structure of the clausal periphery. On the documentary/revitalization front, I am particularly interested in corpus- and database-building and the creation of IT tools for aiding pedagogy.
