Phil is going to be away until the end of June, but in the meantime, we are starting to record! Exciting news indeed. We'll be aiming for a CD release in September.

April 15th , 2005

Oberlin would like to thank everyone who came out to our Horseshoe show last night. You're the ones who make this so much fun and we really love you all for your support. The show was the first with new bassist Marty Smyth and it absolutely rocked. A few new songs were featured and there is talk of a new disc by the fall . . . stay tuned. Pics will be up soon.

Thanks also to The Ryde, Caught Iin Thought and Electrashine for letting Drew use their drum equipment.

Another Horseshoe Gig!! On Thursday, April 14th at 9:30 sharp, Oberlin will be gracing the stage at the Horseshoe Tavern on Queen St. with a new sound. If you've heard us before, you should definitely hear us now. New bassist, new songs, new energy. This gig is not to be missed!

This gig comes on the heels of a house party hosted by the band for Alasdair James' Birthday. Happy Birthday Alasdair! And thanks to all who attended for listening. We hope to see you all at the Horseshoe.

Horseshoe Tarvern - 370 Queen St. W - 9:30 pm - April 14

February, 2005

Oberlin comes into the early year with some bittersweet news to report: long-time bassist, trumpet player and friend, Mike Fallow has left the band. Thanks for all the help and good times, Mike! You will be missed.

Taking Mike's place is church organist/classical pianist/rock and roll bassist Marty Smyth. (Bio page update imminent)

January, 2005

Despite their lack of public shows in the past few months, Oberlin has been busy indeed. They played at the White Trash Christmas party in December, as well as at Pricess Margaret Hospital where (to their credit) they received a noise complaint for rocking out too hard.

June 22nd, 2004

Oberlin will be returning once again to The Horseshoe Tavern on Thursday, July 15th at 9:30pm. This is going to be a great night and a huge opportunity for Oberlin to show the Toronto indie scene what they're made of. It's also early enough so those responsible people can come to the show and still make it to bed in good time. Of course anyone wanting to stay around after the show will be privy to some drinking and carrying-on. There is a $4 cover the night of the show, but you can get in for FREE by emailing us to add yourself to the guestlist. Oberlin looks forward to playing a great show with a few surprises . . .

May 14th, 2004

The Horseshoe gig was a smashing success with comments from the staff that it was one of the busiest Monday nights they had seen in a while. And the credit goes to all of the wonderful people who came out to support our debut to the live music scene. Thanks so much for making the effort to come out late on a Monday night. We are so greateful to you all and hope that we made it worth your while. Thanks also to those who bought our new CD. Please email us and let us know what you think.

Oberlin had a busy week this week with an acoustic show on Thursday, May 13th at the Duke of York. The show, called "Raising the Canopy" which included other musical acts was a fundraiser in support of Canopy Theatre Productions, run by Doug Floyd.

April 30th, 2004

Having successfully recorded their latest album 'bridge' Oberlin is preparing to perform at The Horseshoe Tavern on Monday, May 10th at 11:30pm. This performance will be their first of many summer shows in support of the album. Stay tuned for more show dates.

In the meantime, Andrew and Phil are working on the soundtrack for a stage version of 'A Clockwork Orange' directed by Robert Ginty, to be shown at the Hart House Theatre in September. The music will be a fusion of classical and hip hop to accompany the modern day interpretation of Burgess' classic novel. Sound bites to come.
