CBC By Design

Last night (Friday, 19 January) the CBC Radio One program Ideas aired part one of BY DESIGN: THE POLITICS OF EVERYDAY OBJECTS. Nora Young looks at the hidden aspects of technological design, interviewing experts such as Andrew Feenberg and Donald Norman, and discusses classical examples of design, such as Robert Moses highway overpasses and the Herman-Miller Aeron Chair. It's a gentle, wonderful, intelligent introduction to the subject. Part 2 airs next Friday. You can also listen online, but unfortunately it isn't available in the CBC's podcast if you missed it last night. (Transcripts and audio copies are available to order, but I recorded mine with mplayer for more convenient listening, and plan to do the same next week.)
