It's now the day before the closing ceremony. Each year at the IPhO a Nobel laureate is invited to deliver a public lecture. In Korea, Stanford physicist Robert Laughlin gives a talk about the idea of emergence. Incidentally he has a second job as the first foreign president of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, a sweet position in which he earns an annual salary of half a million dollars!
