about broken tessitura
broken tessitura is an arts initiative based in southeastern ontario. started as an idea in 2007, it embraces the dualistic nature of music: it should be experienced live, felt, believed, made holier than a faith healer's sweat-lined brow or dirtier than falling in with the wrong crowd. music should also be disseminated as art, as an enveloping interpretation, as colours and forms and images giving emotion and life to a simple scrape or squeal. broken tessitura offers free, high-quality mp3s of our releases so individuals will feel inspired to experience the music live; we also distribute and create artistic representations that go beyond the mere format they are printed on to express what the sounds cannot. broken tessitura is committed to pushing the boundaries of all genres, from pop to classical, from noise to punk, in the hopes of redefining what artisic license means in the modern litigious world. you are more than welcome to join us. at this moment, this is a personal endeavour for two friends who need a way to promote and release music together. broken tessitura will expand to include books and artwork in the near future. for further inquiries, please visit the contact page. |
