The purpose of heart2heart is to provide a community space by which those suffering from, interested in, and/or otherwise affected by heart illnesses can interact. The community space consists of a number of proposed key features as follows:
- General introduction to heart illnesses and preventative care
- Automated digest of global heart research news
- Social forum for interaction between survivors and patients, including exhibit space for survivor stories
- Automated feed of the latest heart news
The website may also prove useful to those generally interested in heart illnesses, students seeking volunteer opportunities and experiences at charities associated with heart illness, and sociologists interested in survivor accounts. The appeal of the site features varies across multiple levels of expertise. While the automated newsfeed regarding heart illness research may prove useful to medical researchers, the FAQ material regarding heart illnesses may provide a good introduction for interested laymen outside the medical community.
The website consists of four main sections:Heart Disease, Events, Forum, and About Us. Heart Disease consists of informational elements regarding heart illnesses, including FAQs on a number of more common heart illnesses and basic notes on preventative care and nutrition, as well as a RSS feed of current news articles on the heart. You can also find a map of the location of heart clinics in the GTA here. The Events area of the site consists of a calendar listing opportunities at registered charities to participate in volunteer or participate in supportive activities (e.g. fundraising, marathons). The Forum is for user interaction, as well as an exhibit of user-submitted survival stories and other interactions between members. Finally, heart2heart's mission statement, vision, contact information, and administrative details are available under the section About Us.
