I always seem to start off my websites (which, thankfully, do not tend to survive to publication) with that word. The Internet is becoming a fairly hostile place; I'm just trying to do my bit to keep it friendly.

I came across this quote while looking for a parable that says pretty much the same thing (and is likely based on this quote). I want this site to paint a picture of who I am... but, at this moment at least, it feels like it's easier — and probably better — simply to give small impressions (through my rants, my endless rambling, and my photos) that might each give an idea of what I am not.

Antione de Saint-Exupéry once wrote, «la perfection est atteinte non quand il ne reste rien à ajouter, mais quand il ne reste rien à enlever.» (Perfection is finally attained not when there is no longer anything to add, but when there is no longer anything to take away.) It's this same notion that we start with too much — too many ideas, too much noise — and we have to filter that down, rather than further encumber our already overwhelmed senses and cognitive processes, in order to be able to perceive something (or someone) for what it truly is.

I feel that special mention should be made of the rants, since it is that set of pages that got me started on a new website in the first place. They've kind of taken on a secondary role overall, though... I guess I managed to work out some of that anger and frustration. ;-)

This site is still under severe construction! (The left-hand navigation menu has not yet been tweaked, for instance.) Any broken links, etc. are probably simply par for the course.
