Summer Holidays

Unfortunately our road trip is over, and we're back to work now. If you're not up with the word on the street, Des flew down to Denver and joined us for a trip with Suzy (our car) to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and back to Vancouver. I and Kelly hung out in Vancouver for a little while then made the drive back to Fort Collins. A great time was had by all! Here's the highlights:

By the Numbers:

4393 - Number of miles traveled in 13 days
171 - Number of US Gallons of Gas consumed by Suzy
1 - Number of traffic warnings accumulated on this trip
97 -MPH we were claimed to have been driving upon receiving the warning
79 - MPH we were actually doing
47 - Number of people ahead of us waiting for their orders at In'N'Out burger in Las Vegas
2 - Number of hands of poker Belinda played before being knocked out
123 - Number of potato chips Kelly ate while unsuccesfuly trying to stay awake during her shift as navigator

Leaving Fort Collins, August 4th, 6:30am.
-What a spacious trunk! There's even a 17" CRT computer monitor in there.

Some of the lovely scenery in Southern Utah.

I can't rember where we are here (somewhere in Utah), but that purple civic has mad spinners! Also, this guy with the Jeep has a matching toy Jeep in his Jeep! Jeep! Jeep!

Taking a little break on the way to Vegas (still in Southern Utah). BTW: the drive through Utah to Arizona is gorgeous - there's a "View Point" like every 10 miles.

Kelly, how far can you run into the desert? Oh, that far. I see.

*Not sure how this happened, but the only pictures we took in Vegas are on Des' camera which he hasn't shared with us yet. We did stop in Vegas, and had a yummy prime rib dinner at Lawry's - The Prime Rib - yes that's actually the name of the restaurant. You'll just have to take our word for it.*

Making our regular stop at Tasty Choice in San Gabriel, California. One big piece of meat please.

Okay, 1,2,3....cheeze. Ei yah. Is anyone listening?! Let's try that again. 1,2,3....better.

Lionel and Belinda's house in San Francisco. Apollo was very excited to see us. Hang on tight Kelly!

Lionel and Belinda's twins! Brayden and Kayleigh were both super awesome. 'Specially Brayden's drop kicking abilities. There should be more pics with our hosts, but they're on Des' camera.

Jason at Vancouver Auto getting ready to install our new springs onto Suzy. Thanks for the help Jay!

Fortunately for us, our trip to Vancouver corresponded well with Bari and Jeremy's wedding. "Congratulations to the Happy Couple." why does this sound familiar?

On our way back to Fort Collins, Kelly and I decided to wuss out and split up the 22 hour drive over 2 days. So we stopped overnight in scenic Twin Falls Idaho. No seriously, it actually was scenic. Check it out. Who knew Idaho has more to offer than spuds? Somewhere around here is "the site of Evil Knievel's Ill-Fated attempt to jump the Snake River" We were going to go see it, but then this bunny distracted us. Oooh, a bunny! He he he!

The End. -EL
