Being college students, my sister and I have been presented with many opportunities. We are very thankful for the fact that we were given a chance to go to college. Of course, my parents deserve much of the gratitude because they have given me and my sister the kind of preparation that we will need when we do go to college. For that alone we are thankful to them but to also save up for our higher education is something that we will never forget. They know how important it is to have a good education (they have instilled it in us since we were kids!) and they moved heaven and earth to ensure that we do.

The sacrifices that our parents made for me and my sister was never lost to us and it is because of them that we try our best to excel in school in order to prove to them that their sacrifices are not being forgotten. We also know that our great academic performance is something that makes them happy – and we don’t have to buy anything to make them smile!
My sister and I have always been cool with studying and school. For us, reading our books, doing the research and preparing for exams was never a chore. Our parents taught us that learning is fun. And in college we discovered a renewed drive to really go for it because we can see a glimpse into our future and we know that in this proverbial final round we will have to really put in all we have got in order to achieve the goals that we have set for ourselves now and in the future. This kind of dedication was something that my sister applied to everything that involved our academics and this has paid off. For example, both of us excelled in our classes and were in the honors roll every year. I have to admit that my sister was able to really garner many achievements. She graduated top of her class and was given a scholarship to further her studies in London. Of course, this was the break that she was waiting for so she took it without any hesitation.
The scholarship she was awarded for her studies in London meant that she had to stay in the UK for almost four years. This is a long time especially for a family that is as tight as ours. We usually spend our holidays together and no birthday or big anniversary is celebrated without the four of us. Her higher studies in London though meant that she will not be able to participate in our family traditions anymore. My sister felt bad about it too and for the first year she became so homesick that she was threatening to go home and not finish her studies.
