A Jacobite Gazetteer - Turin

The city of Turin is located in north-western Italy, 120 kilometres west of the city of Milan.

King James III and VIII visited the city in 1717. On February 24 he was received by King Victor Amadeus of Sicily and his wife Queen Anne Marie (granddaughter of King Charles I), and then spent the night at the Castello di Moncalieri.

There are numerous memorials of the House of Savoy in Turin. King Charles IV and his brother King Victor were born here, and King Victor and his wife, Queen Maria Teresa, are buried here. There are also several items connected with the House of Stuart which can be seen in the city's many museums.

Palazzo Reale

Palazzo di Citta

Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento Italiano

Museo Civico d'Arte Antica

Galleria Sabauda

Chiesa di Gran Madre di Dio

Basilica di Superga

Armeria Reale

A brief distance from Turin are the former Savoy residences at Moncalieri, Racconigi, Rivoli, and Stupinigi.
