Totem

Totem. 1999

The assignment was to create a totem pole-inspired clay sculpture. I wanted to make it a functional coin sorting device as well, but the instructor was against this and insisted on a pure, non-functional sculpture.

So I submitted it without the coin sorting features, but left room so that I could still easily convert it into a coin sorter by adding the originally planned sorting, filtering floors. Coins go in the mouth and would get sorted with the smallest coins ending at the bottom, largest at the top. Unstack to reach the coins.
