EASTERN CANADA CHINESE CATHOLIC
LIVING CAMP
Jackson's Point Camp, September 2 to September 5, 2005.
What an experience!!...I don't even know where to start.
Seems like every year, I've gained and learned something back. From the themes
‘Gift of Life’ in 2003, to ‘From Fear to Joy’ last year, and to ‘Walk with you
always’ this year, (when you have time to think about it) these important themes
deal with our everyday lives.
This was a special camp for me. Not only I was given an opportunity to be part
of this year’s House Team but I was able to reunite with some of my long-time
friends, including my best friend Bow Kwok Fu (Anthony), back in my St. Aidan
and Brebeuf days. I hope you enjoyed your time at this camp, Anthony.
My ‘Son of Man’ group, led by Musical Marianne, was
amazing and very supportive, I was very fortunate to be placed in there. Thanks
for sharing your personal experiences with the group and sometimes for being too
quiet (which create an awkward moment at times but it was really fun =P) during
bible sharing period. I was busy running around during the camp in preparing the
seating arrangements and communicating back and forth with the camp staff and
committee members. As a result, I started my meals late every time and couldn’t
help you guys to get refills (for the drinks) or clean up the table after, which
I felt really bad, I was disappointed at myself for being a little bit selfish
and inconsiderate…I am really sorry for not helping out and not participating
100% of the group activities.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my house
team partner, Louise (housemother), for helping and supporting me throughout the
way. If it wasn’t for her support and her assistance in taking some of the load
off my back, I wouldn’t be able to perform my job properly. I would also like to
thank all the cabin leaders for looking after their members and taking the
attendance every night, all the security team members for staying up late and
inspecting the campsite every night, all the first-aiders for keeping a close
eye on the campers, and the set-up team members for helping out in setting up
for the events. Thanks for helping us out, Louise and I really appreciate your
time, commitment, and effort during these 4 days at the camp. To be a
Housefather is not a hard job (hehe), so I hope all of you will seriously
consider to be part of the HOUSE team in the future (just read p.14 of the
handbook).
Special thanks to the 6 committee members for giving me
this opportunity to be part of the teams (House and Handbook). They’ve spent
countless of hours/days/months preparing for and making this a memorable and
successful Ga Dong, we should give them some ‘props’ for doing this. The
Committee (as you know already) includes Clement (CSo or Polar Bear), Bosco
(Uncle Duck or Matthew’s “ball ball”), Mona (Mone or Auntie Mona), Justin
(Just-tin!!! or the guy who sings very well), Matthew from UTCCC (Cow Jone
[Bishop in Chinese?!?!] or the guy who steals internet signal from my laptop),
and last but not least Magdalene from UTCCC (Bossy girl or…well, I am not going
to say anything because she is going to kill me..lol). I would like to thank our
speaker Father Tam, Father Ching from St.Tim’s, and Father Yeung for coming and
teaching us the many aspects of the Catholic faith.
In addition, I would like to thank my handbook team, led
by our famous star JLo, for creating the handbook and putting the materials
together. We should go sing ‘Mamma Mia’ together one day =) Thanks to the MCs,
Vicky and PatKo "Ah Wai" from UTCCC, for keeping things interesting during the
camp and translating from Chinese to English...keke. Oh yes, and thank
you Erica for sharing and providing me with some of her pictures...UTCCC is very
fortunate to have you here. And I would like to
thank everyone who participated and contributed their time in this camp, this
camp would be nothing without you.
I will never forget this amazing Ga Dong Experience. I
love you guys!
Congratulations to the new 2006 committee members: Adrian,
Louise, Jessica, Joanna, Suzanne, Queenie. You are a one lucky guy, Adrian..lol.
Just remember, I am here to support you guys. "Once you have the Heart to do it,
Nothing is Impossible". Good Luck!
May God
Continue to Bless you ALL.
