WORKING FOR KIDS @ COMPUTERS 

365 Bloor Street E, May 24 to Sept. 3, 2004. 

What an experience working for kids@computers department for the summer. In the beginning, I didn’t know what to expect. All I know is that I needed to look good in my first impression on the first day. I was actually scared because I wasn’t sure I would fit in right with my fellow co-workers. Of course, everything went well. The staff was very nice, and made me feel that I was part of their team. Its been a Fun Summer!! 

I would like to thank Judy and Suzanne for their patience. They have spent time training me and guiding me through good and bad times throughout the summer. I would like to thank Sherry, Vanessa, and Adrienne for bailing me out from angry clients and helping me out when I needed help. I would like to thank the ‘kids with no computers’ gang, Queenie, Tessa, JSM, and Dianne for listening to my ‘not-so-funny’ jokes, and for covering my butt while I was slacking off (joking). =P You guys were great! I enjoyed working with you all.

In addition, I would like to thank the other students, Arun (a.k.a Aram), Pizza Mike, Tracy, Helen, and Marie for letting me use the photocopier first, for taking some of my abuses (Bryan McCabe hip check against the file cabinets), and for taking a lot of my ‘pretending to be client’ calls (joking!!). I would also like to thank the friendly staff working at the special needs unit.

Lastly, I would like to thank Linda. Even though I only worked with her for ¾ days at the switchboard, she taught me a lot of things. She is like a teacher to me. She taught me the importance of learning Chinese, and the importance of not giving up on my dreams. Actually, ‘not giving up’ was the most important and meaningful lesson I’ve learned this summer.

I enjoyed my time working for the City of Toronto and representing more than 1.5 million residents living in Toronto. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to work in this department.
