I strongly believe the principle that sustainable development stands on three pillars: economic, social and environmental. So I’ve been influenced and guided by a simple statement stated by OECD: “in order to give decision-makers a rational basis for choices across the full range of economic, social and environmental policies, countries need a clear framework to identify and, where possible, measure the trade-offs. Otherwise the whole exercise on sustainable development would be of little value”. In the same way I see that if non-market goods and services provided by ecosystems are large, ignoring them in natural resource policy making could lead to serious errors and resource misallocation. So my research ambition to inquiry into valuing non-market goods and services provided by natural capitalMy master’s social science research at York University has focused on Natural Resource Accounting (NRA) to deal with statistical information relevant to understanding the linkages between the environment and the economy. This research also helped drafting Handbook on Sources and Methods of Bangladesh System of National Accounting, 2007 and extensively enhanced Bangladesh’s case study in the emerging discipline of ecological economics.Research Paper  The Need for Natural Resource Accounting (NRA) in The Bangladesh System of National Accounting (BSNA)
