Adventure notes

This page will cover events mentioned in the Time Line page, but to greater detail. It will also delineate details and events not covered in the Time Line, but also pertinent to the characters, their story arc, and/or the wider Babylon 5 universe. The Campaign itself at times strayed from JMS canon, but always I endeavored to do so plausibly and reasonably.

Their Beginning:

AUG 2256: What began as a routine smuggling run to a distant pirate base on Tighron ended in disaster, not only for the smuggler, but also the pirate base that he and his ill-fated crew were supplying. Within only a few minutes of the League Forces attack, Karnak's piratical empire was in ruins.

It was during the fall of Karnak's base that the smuggler, Nigel, ran off with 2 of Karnak's lieutenants; 1,  a human named Della and a Narn, named Za'Tark. Together all 3 were able to escape the League dragnet, eventually joining up with a religious caste Minbari, named Talon, in the outpost of Gravestown 80 km's away. From Tighron, the trio joined the Minbari in his quest to find a lost scroll of Valen; lost during the Earth-Minbari war. The group's adventures lead them from the newly online Babylon 5 station to the Markab homeworld and back to Bab 5. With the right scroll in hand, they returned to Babylon 5, attempting to return the Scroll to visiting Minbari Ambassador Delenn. Agents of unknown origin abducted Delenn in an attempt to coerce the scroll from the Party. Without hesitation, the party flung themselves at the enemy agents, overpowering them. Minbari attaché La'thon, switching the scroll for a fake one Talon had originally acquired, he hurled the fake at the attackers. At that point, Delenn was safe, 2 enemy agents were dead, and the remaining 3 managed to flee with the fake scroll. Only Nigel had been wounded, and that not fatally. Once outside of the station, Star Furies in hiding disabled the agents ship, but before they star furies can lock it down, the ship blows up.

The silent agenda.

AUG-SEPT 2256: With the scroll of Valen returned, Delenn has Talon takeover day-to-day embassy work while she completes her duties back on Minbar. Nigel settles into some spartan quarters in Brown sector, debating about whether to fall back further into bottle or not. He is also trying to make his money last and is also almost completely healed up from the previous adventure. Della and Za'Tark work with Matron to pick up the pieces of Karnak's rapidly disintegrating empire. However, Matron's years of efforts pay off as old allies and acquaintances sign up with her. And in an attempt to further her solidification of her newest territory, Matron orders all of her people to look after the slowly but steadily growing lurker population (as more and more of Babylon 5 becomes complete, the problem of disenfranchisement will continue to grow) as Matron fully realizes the value of so many unaccounted eyes and ears. Matron also hires Nigel for pilot jobs: cargo runs among other things. Talon, while easily coming to grips with his embassy duties, is secretly convinced that Delenn is right about the return of the ancient enemy. To this end, under his duties as a Minbari embassy attaché, he begins recruitment drives in earnest for his clandestine information gathering service, called simply, The Nosferatu. With the recruiting of Za'Tark, Della, Nigel and Matron, his organization, including himself numbers less than 10 beings scattered across the galaxy.

NOTE: there is no adventure for this section. The above events played out of the leftovers of the previous adventure and built on the characters backgrounds. Very enjoyable, as all I had to do was moderate, make a few dice rolls and get some of my own Character's background into the situations. I had hoped that eventually one of the other guys would take over for awhile; come up with either a one off adventure or maybe a short term campaign that would cover a few months.... it never happened. Oh well.

The silent agenda pt 2.

SEPT 2256: Within a couple weeks of settling in, gang realizes there are some strange things happening on board the not-quite-yet-fully-active Babylon 5 station. Approached by Garibaldi to investigate, the gang eventually find themselves wrapped up in a plot that will attempt to restart the Earth-Minbari war. Della and Za'Tark notice that some of their Down-below contacts are literally vanishing, while Nigel, talking with Sinclair, hears about the dockworkers complaints about the Military taking over parts of the hangers. Nigel is hired by the military to pilot a cargo ship out to the Centauri planet of Batain, bringing the gang along as "crew". While there, the gang discovers the plot in detail, finding arms and ammo, tons of troops and missing people from Bab5's down-below. Escaping with proof, gang heads back to Babylon 5 and within Days, EarthForce and Centauri troops secure the rogue element. ISN broadcasts the story. Talon and Nigel gain some notoriety, but Della and Za'Tark stay firmly out of sight of the Cameras.

The Last Corsair:
.The
SEPT-OCT 2256: This would be the last one off  adventure, per se. The adventures that came after this one were far more plot driven as opposed to the typical action of the moment. It is based on the Flashing Blades, Fantasy Game Designs©, RPG adventure module, High Seas. Taking the 17th century Pirate motif and placing it in the 23rd century was fairly easy; Shadow ports (no pun intended), back room deals, shady crew members from many worlds, it all lent itself to the adventure. The gang had some interesting adventures during their brief stint as pirates, and indeed learned much about themselves and each other. But they never lost site on their mission. At the first chance, they escaped. Now this adventure does lend itself specifically to  this particular party in it's infancy (it was only Della, Nigel, Talon and Za'Tark), so for close quarters and for keeping everyone on the ball and involved, it made for some great adventuring, but as I mentioned, this was the last of the one offs. As it was, looking back at these notes of the adventures, I realized even then that I was laying the foundation for the larger plot points to come.

What I didn't count on was the group, so recently illegit, except for Talon, all wanted to go legit. Delenn of the Grey council, Commander Sinclair of Earth Force, and even G'Kar of the Kah'ri all wanted the various party members to stand for something solid. However, a fun time was had by all (as it t'were.).

OCT 2256: Initial overtures made by the entire Bab 5 council to Fornat people. As entreaty to join is being put forth mostly by non-humans, Fornat government is intrigued. First parleys are made. Gang gets roped into being the vanguard of first diplomatic forays. Talon and Za'Tark lead the way, while Nigel, after being reinstated to previous Captains rank (Non-flag) goes as Earth's olive branch. EarthGov officially doesn't know what the Fornat's complaints are about, but secretly brief Nigel. As Nigel attempted to wipe out Mal di'Dean years earlier, and the Fornats were victims of Mal di'Dean's, he was the only logical choice to send out. The importance of the mission to Earth was only later revealed to the party (they have rich deposits of Q-40, which Catherine Sakai discovered earlier in the year on one of their uninhabited moons. It has taken months for the Corporation to get EarthGov to move on this situation).
