RESEARCH PROJECT

A complete mechanistic model that accurately and exhaustively describes the phenomena of droplet wetting and coalescence has long eluded researchers. The long-term vision of my doctorate is to deviate from present day empirical design standards prevalent in the field and to eventually propose a model framework that satisfactorily quantifies coalescence and surface wetting rates. This model is intended to act as a "missing link", validating experimental observations to proposed theory. Lastly, my work would also be employed ipso facto to investigate coalescence and wetting phenomena in bitumen, as part of an ongoing collaboration with Syncrude Canada Ltd.
