Hey look, a post

Okay, so we're getting pretty bad about posting. Hopefully I'll be able to turn things around....starting....now.

Here's some pictures of our family housing apartment. The inside feels outrageously big compared to our Toronto apartment. The sofa and kitchen table/chairs came with our apartment - we were surprised at how decent they were!

Out front we've got some "park" like courtyard which is also a nice feature - it looks like everyone's got a BBQ, so hopefully we'll get one too and do some outdoor cooking this summer...yum!

Over the last month, we've learned many a thing:

1. Kelly can't get anything (like a driver's licence) without me. Apparently her visa forbids it.

2. The Colorado driver's licence branch is the slowest on the face of the planet (it took us almost three hours to get our licences).

3. It is way warmer in Fort Collins that we thought it would be - and it's sunny all the time. Since Dec 5th, we've had a grand total of 5cm of snow over 2 days (2 separate days). Maybe it'll get colder in Feb.

4. Nobody wants to give me a credit card. Apparently having no American credit rating makes this task difficult.

5. You get drunk faster at high altitudes.

6. 75 mph speed limits are awesome.

Life here in Fort Collins, has been insanely busy with work and all at the univeristy (and this officially is my excuse for not posting very often - you'll have to email Kelly and ask her why she hasn't posted anything). On my one day off (Sun), we've been regularly renting cars and driving about - mostly down to Denver and such (again, 75mph speed limits rule!). Now, for cost effectiveness, we always request the lowest rental rate (the economy-compact). This is normally the Chevy Aveo (sometimes a Dodge Neon - if we're lucky).

This car sorta reminds of other high powered machines such as the Toyota Echo, Ford Fiesta, or those funny cars sold in France. It is typically equipped with wondeful features such as carbon fiber-like interior door handles (weight reduction helps with acceleration), manual windows (no power window motors also helps with weight reduction), and 14" steel wheels with bolt on wheel covers (wouldn't want to lose your fancy hubcaps).

We've also learned this last weekend that: when the car rental place is fresh out of Aveo's and Neon's, apparently the next available car is this:

That's right, a Chrysler 300. They just don't like stocking anything in between in size. So, with our grandpa-ish sedan, we decided to drive into the mountains in search of snow. We took a fun windy highway into the mountains (#14) for nearly and hour and half before finaly finding some snow!

After reaching the top of this mountain pass, we turned around and went home - darifto'ing all the way. Sadly this, was the highlight of our sunday drive. -EL
