You're now tuned in to Radio Seven Seas! I really wanna introduce GARNET CROW's music to more starters and that's the reason the radio's here, dangerously dodging copyright laws. But, I've made the point. You'll hear rotation of GC songs with my short text commentary (below) and also some of my favourite artists.

This Week
GARNET CROW - Jewel Fish
Norah Jones - Not Too Late

RADIO SEVEN SEAS PAST ROTATION

2007.1.14
Playing: 05 Livescope - 'flying'

I'm not sure if you agree Yuri's real voice sounds different from studio recording. Live sounds deeper and more nasal. I really like the live version of 'flying', how Yuri puts accents on certain words, and the rhythm of it all.

Song of week: Salyu - Tobira

Here's my mini site on Salyu.

My comments: Tobira is the new single to be released on 17th Jan and also the eponymous song on Salyu's new album. Compared to 'Landmark' which also seemed to define the overall message and tone for her album, Tobira is in my opinion more energetic and outwardly radiant. Getting in the bright forecast of 2007 eh? The PV features an Eskimo-like Salyu wobbling in penguin gaits and even teasing our beloved Takashi Kobayashi who (by a tremendous amount of effort) pretended to be oblivious to her malign ticklings. The video was shot in faded monotone against a dazzling expanse of sky. No further comments on the song itself except to say it's brilliant. Love the shoutings. The chorus is refreshing and uplifting.

2006.11.13
Livescope 2004 - 今日の君と明日を待つ
Romaji: Kyou no kimi to asu wo matsu
Eng: Waiting for tomorrrow with the you today

What impresses me most is actually one single note near the end of this song, right before the short silence break. That high pitch is simply astounding. There's a huge amount of tension and impact in the echo of that sound. I imagine the audience were probably holding their breadth towards the end coz the need for absolute silence could be utterly pristine in that situation. Yuri's voice is just POWERFUL!

Today's recommendation
The c/w track 'Bye.my.sai' from RADWIMPS' newly released single セツナレンサ. It's a soft ballade.

Track 02 バイ.マイ.サイ
Lyrics (incomplete)

now, just now
i know that i'm happy
coz you're here with me

you, just you
is what i really need
and all the other thought means nothing to me

love is the word i really mean
coz all the other word means nothing to me
love is the word i really mean
coz all the other thought just makes me to ??

CHORUS
Bye my sai (x repeat)

now, just now
i know that i'm lonely
coz you're away from me

you, 'bout you, 'bout me's about you
and now i repeat the same verses over and over and over and over again
until you're back to me

oh love is the word i really need
so all of these affections need a place where they'd go
love is the word i really need
so please will you come back and ??

(CHORUS)
Bye my sai (x repeat)
