    Here
are some research tools that I've used in the past.  I've also included
    specific information about California,
    Vancouver & Canadian Rockies.
In 2004, I hope I'll be able to add a page or two about trips to Europe or
    Central America.

     Instead of going
thru the individual car rental companies' websites, I found
    Travelocity to be the most
comprehensive site, with the most user-friendly features.

I had a very bad experience renting from Thrifty in May,
2004.  Basically, upon returning the car at the Calgary airport,
thrifty noticed a barely visible dent on the front bender for which I wasn't
responsible for, and proceeded to charge me for the damage 5 months after
the car rental.  I have another friend who had an even worse time with
thrifty.  Highly recommend against renting vehicles from them.
