Top 20 Activities

Exploratorium

Hands-on science museum.

Palace of the Fine Arts

Great place to snap photos.  Too bad my b&w didn't turn out too well.

Lombard Street

http://www.sftravel.com/lomabardcrookedstreet.html

I enjoyed driving down the hill.  Thank goodness it doesn't snow in SF.  Note: This particular stretch of Lombard St. is one-way and it's really hard to find parking nearby.  A safer bet is to park near Pier 39 and walk over.

Twin Peaks

Coit Tower

Situated on the top of Telegraph Hill, offers a good view of SF on a clear day.  The tower was made famous by one of Alfred Hitchcock's movies.

Alamo Square

Victorian houses featured on the TV show "Full House."

Pakwan (Pakistani)

Very good lamb curry and mango lassi.  The nan is gooood too.

Sights

Lick Observatory (Mt. Hamilton)

45 minutes east of San Jose.  Often see snow along the road in higher elevations in winter.

Golf

Spring Valley Golf Course (Milpitas)

For a beginner, it was a delightful course.  I especially liked the 194-yard, downhill hole 2.

Monarch Bay Golf Club (San Leandro)

By the bay.  Beautiful sunsets!

Pin High and other Driving Ranges in the South Bay

Food

Midori Sushi

Freshest sashimi I've ever had.

Chavez Taqueria

On 666 Fair Oaks N. just south of HW101, it's got the best spiced pork burrito I've ever had.

Cherry Picking

There are lots of cherry orchards in the Sacramento area where you can pick your own Rainier Cherries.  Check out a juicy picture of these yummy yellow cherries here.

Stanford Shopping Center

Another favorite shopping destination of mine.

The Great Mall

For the bargain hunter in all of us.

Gilroy Outlet

Full-blown outlet centre.  Now the home of a new Banana Republic outlet store.

Some outlet chains in the U.S.

Monterey

Monterey Bay Aquarium

Even though I've lived in the Bay Area for a while, I didn't visit the aquarium until 2005.  It was a very interesting place to visit, not to mention the restaurant we went to (Monterey Jacks Fish House & Sports Bar) had excellent Baja style fish tacos.  Yummy.  Hmm, I mean the food at the restaurant, not the fish at the aquarium.
