FLORENCE

Florence at dusk, as seen from the Piazzale Michelangelo.

The world-famous Uffizi Gallery:

Me at the Uffizi Gallery, about to bypass the four-hour line!

The Neptune fountain in the Piazza della Signoria, my favourite place in all of Italy.

The Cattedrale Santa Maria del Fiore, which has the Duomo.  Here you can see the campanile on the left.  I cropped out the huge duomo (dome) itself because it's currently under restoration, so there's lots of scaffolding just outside the frame.

Giambologna's "The Rape of the Sabine Women" (1583), a sculpture I fell in love with.

The Vecchio bridge (Ponte Vecchio) in Florence, distinctive due to the shops and backshops built on the bridge.  It's so old, it probably existed during Roman times, but the current structure dates to around 1333, with work done in the 16th- and 17th-centuries.

Florence, as viewed from the top of the Duomo.

A shot of the Piazza della Signoria at night (sorry, it's a bit out of focus).  I returned here every night because it was just so serene.  The piazza is very much an open-air museum, full of Renaissance masterwork sculptures.  See if you can find "The Rape of the Sabine Women" and the fake David!
