BILBAO

The main reason to visit Bilbao (besides the fact that it's a snazzy cool city) is to see the Frank Gehry-designed Guggenheim Museum.  Oh no, it's being consumed by a giant spider!

But Bilbao is full of stunning contemporary architecture alongside its traditional Spanish buildings.  Here is a picture I took of the footbridge designed by Santiago Calatrava, the architect who designed Toronto's B.C.E. PlaceCORRECTION: Super-hussie Karen Whaley informs me that Calatrava only designed the "decorative roof" inside the B.C.E. Place, and that her mom's old company, B+H Architects, actually designed the building.  Which makes me wonder if he only designed the peculiar fin of this bridge, too, and if the rest was designed by workers in a Spanish sweatshop.

SAN SEBASTIAN

Besides Bilbao, my friend Oscar also took me to San Sebastian, a lovely resort town in the north of Spain.  They had a really pretty plaza:

But the really gorgeous sights of San Sebastian were to be seen from the beach:

Oh those surfer boys!  Anyway, here's a photo of Oscar and me, beside some bridge.  No surfer boys.  =(

CHARTRES

Living proof for Ari Kopolovic that I actually visited the cathedral in Chartres, an hour outside of Paris.  The cathedral dominates the skyline of this small town.

The view of Chartres from one of the cathedral towers (I went on a climbing frenzy on this trip, scaling hundreds of steps at every tower, steeple and hill to get panoramic shots of places I was visiting).  Don't they look like paper houses?  Note the huge cemetary in the distance.

That's it!  I have more, but I don't want to cause sensory overload.  Thank you for taking the time to peruse my photos!
