Just a place for me to write a few words down

So I haven't posted a lot of things on this site lately and for those of you who read this, I do apologize. This past month has been a little crazy with things not working out the way I had hoped...and I was a little depressed. I didn't do as well as I wanted to on my GMAT and while it wasn't a failure, it isn't high enough to get into program I wanted. I've got to take it again at the beginning of June in the hopes that I don't choke like last time. It's strange, I had felt so dejected like that in a really long time....and I had to keep reminding myself that it is a learning experience. I guess it has caused me to re-evaluate my life and my plans, "what if I don't make it into the program?". Well worse case scenario, I graduate, go to work and start my career ...that's not too bad is it??? and when and if the time comes, I can do my MBA. There are definitely advantages and disadvantages to doing an MBA now versus later and everyone that I've talked to has different opinions on it.

Well enough on the sort of depressing part of life and I will try to be more cheerful from here on...=) The past week, I finally took a week off work to go up to Deep River with Selene to visit her sister Lianne and her parents....as per usual, the weather was cooperative (somewhat) and the environment was relaxing.

While we were there, we rented the movie "The Last Samurai"....great movie...definitely one of my favs...if you haven't seen it, I recommend that you do. It shows a great detail about the japanese culture and how they evolved from their old traditions to the modern western culture. It has actions for the guys and culture and drama for the girls...and if you're asking "why is the last samurai white??" well watch the movie and you'll find out =)

On the topics of movies, I recently saw Troy and Shrek 2. Both were pretty good but I was a little disappointed with Troy. The way they portrayed the story seemed stupid and naive. Imagine starting this huge war for Helen of Troy....it's absurd...mind you it was 3 hours and you definitely get your money's worth of movie for 13 bucks! Shrek 2 was all entertainment....definitely a must see. I went with Selene and her little niece and nephew who are 2 and 5 years old respectively. It was little Elena's first real movie and she was so cute. She kept on eating my popcorn and wouldn't stop. She actually just came up and sat on my lap and ate popcorn for a good portion of the movie =). Gosh I love kids =)

In any case it has been a good week, a month with ups and downs and an interesting birthday. I guess with age comes great responsibility....

Treat everything like a learning experience, even the good, the bad, and the ugly. What doesn't kill you will only make you stronger. It's not the end of the world; life goes on. Keep on going!!!

PS GO CALGARY GO!!!
