Advertising Material - University of Toronto Chinese Christian Fellowship (2005)
To advertise the Coffeehouse event at UTCCF, posters, leaflets and bookmarks were to be designed. Limited by an access to technology, it was difficult to achieve a good quality production with colour.

The solution bypassed this problem by using only the colours black, grey and white. This added pressure onto the design work, as it relied more so on the graphics to attract attention to the poster.

Contrasting techniques were used to make the poster attractive. Small squares which differentiated against the white background were used to make the title more interesting. The rest of the poster took on a minimalist style, with little text and other images. This approach was used in hope that it will stand out from amongst the other posters on the billboards, which all used a rather busy and active design.

A coherent design was used for the leaflet and bookmark as well. The leaflet was made in the style of an invitation, welcoming people to the Coffeehouse event. The bookmark was intended to be a souvenir for visitors to the coffeehouse, and so was made to advertise the fellowship itself. The shape of the bookmark was a problem as the title of the Coffeehouse function could not fit onto such a thin form. This problem was solved by introducing a grey background onto the bookmark, effectively dividing it into two separate sides, making it easier to work with and creating a clear division between the graphic and the text.
