March 17, 2005.Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! I woke up today and google was all green and pretty and I wore a green shirt to school today and it really reminded me of an avocado milkshake that Jessica had last Friday. Yes indeed, avocado milkshakes exist and are offered by Hung Pho (Vietnamese restaurant on Dundas/Spadina). In fact it seems you can find me in a restaurant on friday pretty often as it seems to have become a customary thing to do for Jessica, Andrey, and I. I am always all for celebration of Fridays... tomorrow's going to be especially nice since the horrible weight of calculus has been removed from my shoulders. All in all the last two weeks have been really busy for me as I was trying to catch up with all the calculus material, algebra material, and finish CSC263 assignments, all of the things that I had due today. But now it's all over and it's countdown till the exams. In the next three weeks I have an assignment due for CSC263, 2 labs, an assignment for CSC258 and an algebra quiz. This shouldn't tax me too much, so I hope I can do enough work to finish the year pretty much caught up with my courses material. I've also been pretty lucky this year in terms of a summer job. I've got an NSERC Undergraduate Research grant under the supervision of Greg Wilson and Karen Reid and I am pretty excited about doing it this summer. I hope I will finally get some useful experience and after that it should be a lot easier to get jobs that are in the industry vs. general labour kinda stuff that I have done so far. I am also excited just about working and doing new things and not studying like crazy day and night. It's also been rumoured that I might get access to grad labs which would be quite sweet. I just really hope I can do the work because I feel rather stupid, useless, and unimaginative at the moment, but we'll see I guess... I don't think they can really fire me per se. Another thing I am looking for is reading many many books this summer... I am starved for the lack of reading which always happens to me at the end of the term... I think at the beginning of the Christmas break I read a book a day and I have a feeling I'll do just as much as soon my exams are over since I've got that list on the left to go through and much more actually that I haven't bothered to write down. I like books :) Anyways, it would be nice if I could update this blog more often, but I really know myself better than that... So I shall write again when something comes up or Andrey pushes me to do it again or something :). PS. Comments tend to motivate me to blog *hint hint*. |
